The mission of Rotaract is to provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through its fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders.

THE OBJECT OF ROTARY

The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

  • FIRST: The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;
  • SECOND: High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian’s occupation as an opportunity to serve society;
  • THIRD: The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian’s personal, business, and community life;
  • FOURTH: The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

THE FOUR WAY TEST

The Four-Way Test is a nonpartisan and nonsectarian ethical guide for Rotarians to use for their personal and professional relationships. The test has been translated into more than 100 languages, and Rotarians recite it at club meetings:

Of the things we think, say or do:

  1. Is it the TRUTH?
  2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
  3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
  4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

CORE VALUES

Rotary International has several core values which represent the guiding principles of the organization’s culture. These values guide members’ priorities and actions within MSU Rotaract and determine the direction and intent of club leadership. The 5 core values include:

  1. SERVICEWe believe that our service activities and programs foster understanding and peace throughout the world. Service is an integral component or our mission and the initiatives we pursue. Our group service projects and individual efforts fuel a culture of service which offers members an unmatched sense of gratification.
  2. FELLOWSHIPWe believe that united efforts allow us to serve all of humanity. Strength in numbers boosts our resources while broadening our perspectives of the world. Fellowship generates greater tolerance of others while transcending boundaries such as those of race, gender, and nationality.
  3. DIVERSITYWe believe that through the ideal of service, Rotary can accomplish international unity. We encourage a diverse community of members from a variety of vocational, ethnic, socioeconomic, racial, and religious backgrounds within our club. Through the diversity of our members, our organization is able to broaden the scope of the services we may provide to our community.
  4. INTEGRITYWe are committed to and expect accountability, honesty, and good ethics from our leaders and members. We adhere to the highest ethical standards in both our profession and personal relationships with others. Our value of integrity is grounded in The Four-Way test, and we conscientiously steward the resources entrusted to us.
  5. LEADERSHIPWe believe in the importance of leadership development and hold leadership as vital quality of our members as we work to implement our core values throughout the world.
